Through the Parks on the Air (POTA) program, I engage in a diverse range of portable radio operations across Norway’s scenic public lands, national parks, and nature reserves. Operating as LA9GTA, I deploy modular field stations to “activate” these protected spaces from varied natural environments. These deployments act as practical training for rapid field setup, allowing me to test different portable antenna configurations and maintain reliable communication without standard infrastructure.
Summits on the Air (SOTA)…
Operating under the callsign LA9GTA, I take amateur radio to new heights through regular participation in the international Summits on the Air (SOTA) program. This activity involves hiking to designated mountain peaks across Norway to establish temporary, battery-powered radio stations. Operating from high-elevation vantage points allows me to test the limits of lightweight QRP gear and portable antennas, combining a passion for mountain trekking with diverse technical challenges.
